Bridging the Gap: The Launch of the 1902 Committee Rock Art Journal

In the study of human origins, few things are as evocative as rock art. It is the visual record of the evolution of the human mind. However, keeping up with global developments in this field can be a challenge for researchers and enthusiasts alike.

Today, we are excited to introduce The 1902 Committee, a new Open Access initiative designed to aggregate, curate, and share rock art news from around the world.

A Global Clearinghouse for Rock Art

The 1902 Committee serves as a digital magazine and journal. We recognize that rock art is a global phenomenon, and our mission is to provide a platform where news from diverse regions can coexist. From documentation projects to new dating breakthroughs, if it involves art on stone, you will find it here.

Our Commitment to Open Access

Consistent with our values at The World of Paleoanthropology, the 1902 Committee operates on an Open Access model. We believe that information regarding our collective cultural heritage should be:

• Accessible: No paywalls for the public.

• Ethical: Focused on the respectful preservation of symbolic sites.

• Timely: Providing a quick turnaround for news and updates.

Get Involved

We are currently in the launch phase and are building our digital community. You can support this new resource by:

1. Following us on Facebook to get real-time news updates.

2. Staying tuned for our first formal call for contributions.

3. Sharing our mission with fellow researchers and students.
